This edition of Ben Nevis Traditional, first released in 2011 to commemorate the distillery’s 185th anniversary, aims to recreate the original MacDonald’s Traditional Ben Nevis from the 1880s. It features a higher proportion of peated whisky compared to typical offerings from the distillery. This edition is more heavily peated than modern Ben Nevis and predominantly matured in Sherry casks. The whisky combines sweet sherried fruit flavours with thick bonfire smoke and savoury notes of cured meat, pepper, clove, bitter orange, and woody spices. It’s a full-bodied and complex single malt.
