Ballindalloch Estate is not just famous for its long history of Scotch whisky production. It is also known globally for its pedigree herd of Aberdeen-Angus cattle, the oldest such herd in the world. Today, Aberdeen-Angus (‘Black Angus’) cattle are the second most successful breed globally and are bred around the world because of their exceptional beef quality. Given the longevity of the Ballindalloch herd, many of the animals bred around the world today can trace their ancestry back to those that have graced the fields in front of Ballindalloch Castle.
The relationship between Ballindalloch Whisky and their pedigree herd of Aberdeen-Angus is key to the circular nature of single malt production at Ballindalloch Estate. The herd of Aberdeen-Angus eats the draff from the distillery and other by-products provide key fertilisers for the fields while they are fallow in the crop rotation. This is a vital part of what makes Ballindalloch one of the very few single estate distilleries in the world and founder member in Scotland of The Estate Whisky Alliance.
This collaboration with the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society in the UK marks the 150th edition of the AACS Herd Book, a major milestone, and the collaboration through a special release of Ballindalloch Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a great way to celebrate it. The Macpherson-Grants of Ballindalloch are delighted to be combining the two key pillars that have made the Estate renowned around the globe.

This release has been matured in 50% first fill ex-Sherry and 50% first fill ex-Bourbon casks, carefully married together.

Available in a 700ml bottle, at 50% abv. Non chill-filtered, natural colour.
